Bharatmatrimony's CEO Murgavel Janakiraman heads India's largest match-making portal. Recently his company got its first round of investment from Canaan Ventures and Yahoo!

Murga discusses about the new features and verticals that Bharatmatrimony has introduced. Besides matchmaking, they also offer classified, jobs, real estate, automobile and yellow pages.

Murga founded Bharatmatrimony in the late 1990s while holding down a regular job as a software engineer in New Jersey, USA. The matchmaking site became an instant success and Murga introduced matchmaking sites targeted to various regional and language groups like Tamilmatrimony, Telugumatrimony etc.

Currently Bharatmatrimony has about 7.5 million users and has helped arrange about 700,000 marriages through its matchmaking portal.

With their first round of investments Murga has some ambitious plans for his company. One of those plan that has already been implemented is their mobile strategy called 50/50.
