rang.jpgRang De Basanti’s Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra is currently on a pre-Oscar tour of the USA. Rang De Basanti is India’s official entry for the 2007 Oscars that will be held in February in Los Angeles, CA. This is Rakyesh’s second feature film. In this interview Rakyesh talks extensively about the film and the background to making of the film. Why was an English version of the film not made? He spent five years working on the script of this film. The film turned out to be one of the biggest hits in India cinema for 2006.

As Rakyesh puts it this is his sixth visit to the USA in the last six months. He is traveling around the USA screening and holding discussions about the film.

In March 2007 Rang De Basanti will be released in mainstream theatres in the USA.

Rakyesh is currently on two film projects.
